I loved painting on this - much sturdier than paper but soaks up paint just as well.
Love this panel so much!
I love trekell but.......
I'll start by saying I have been using trekkel brushes for years and they always preform and have exceeded my expectations. I decided to try these watercolor panels on a whim. The first one took a wash of very opaque but not too wet paint like a DREAM. I did the same thing to the second one and it immediately warped and bubbled. This is watercolor paper glued to wood and now the paper is coming off of the wood. This could absolutely be me not understanding the description of the product well enough, but why did one panel hold up to excellence and the other fell apart? I provided photos of the two side by side.
Nice Panel
I was a bit nervous about trying watercolor paper mounted on a panel, but I am so glad I did. The paper did not warp or bend and the ability to paint to the edge was fantastic. The only thing that I didn't like was the corners seemed to repel the water and paint; I had to apply color there multiple times to get it to stay. I also prefer rough texture and wish the paper had a bit more tooth, but over all the paper performed great using wet on wet and wet on dry techniques.
Love Trekell
I loved the watercolor paper on gator board but Trekell discontinued them. So I tried the watercolor on birch. It was terrible. The glue left a line around the entire edge of the surface which ruined the ability to float the piece. Framing would also cover too much of the painting in order to cover the line. Trekell did offer to refund. Don't waste your time ordering these. I wish they would bring back the gator board much better results and they were great for plein air painting, light-weight and reliable.
Love Trekell
I love your products! I’ve never received one that was less than perfect. Great quality and price point for my work. One thing - trying to remove the gold foil stickers on the back of panels is a huge pain. Can you stamp the panels with your logo’ing instead?
