Our Hog Bristle Brush line has the bristle brush characteristics you've come to expect: flags at the tip, a natural curve, and interlocking bristles assisting you to spread paint smoothly. But the virtue setting Trekell's Hog Bristles apart is the feel. With long black and silver-lacquered handles and nickel-plated brass ferrules, these brushes are perfectly balanced. They move gracefully and evenly; an extension instead of an impediment. A Hog Bristle is an oil or acrylic necessity, one that's as valuable to your collection as it is affordable to own.

When people think of a fine art brush, they typically picture a round brush. The iconic, rounded shape is versatile, offering a multitude of options, such as washes, fills, and lines of all sizes. The more pointed variety excels at fine lines and intricate details.

Love these brushes!
These brushes have just the right number of bristles, great spring, and handle beautifully. I ordered rounds, filberts, and flats and they are all very impressive. My new favorite brush brand. I am glad to order from a small company too. Also thanks to Savvy Painter or I would not know about you.

Among the very best
I've noticed that while many companies can turn out a good bristle filbert or flat, only a few select brush makers can make a bristle round that comes to a good point, holds its shape, and has good spring. I just have started using a Trekell Hog Bristle size 4 round (my workhorse brush for sketching and blocking-in) and I love everything about it. My new favorite! I first discovered Trekell when I won an art show prize that included free materials from Trekell. I sampled a variety of their hog bristle brushes at that time - and have been using filberts and long filberts from the series. They are also among the best brushes I've used. But as I said at the top, it's the quality of a company's bristle round that I use as my yardstick. Bravo, Trekell!
